Healthcare From The Source — Why Local Doctors Are Writing For Magazines

Healthcare is about more than just going to the doctor when you’re sick.

Some people don’t even realize that they are sick until it’s pointed out that what’s happening to them is unusual.

It’s become obvious to many doctors that working in their clinics and seeing the patients that come to them simply isn’t enough anymore.

So like the practical people they are, some doctors started working on a solution.

People Need Information!

You can find health advice from so many sources — just pick up a newspaper, or turn on the TV.

How much of that information is actually coming from doctors, though?

Much of it may have originated with doctors, but once it’s been reprocessed through a number of journalists or TV personalities, the facts can get jumbled with the fiction.

That’s the main reason why many doctors have seen the need for a new approach.

Direct From The Doctor

The emerging solution is for doctors to provide the information they believe their patients need, directly.

This doesn’t mean knocking on your door to discuss your health — you still need to go see them if you have a problem or want to talk.

It does mean writing articles directly accessible by you, without some media personality interpreting their words.

The Local Touch

One of the biggest benefits of this new method of sharing information is that doctors can also tell you about themselves and their colleagues.

General information is one thing… but knowing the specifics for your own local area is so much better.

Now doctors can tell you exactly who the specialists are in your area, what services are available, what to look out for, and anything else they think is relevant.

Personal Care

Doctors aren’t just faceless machines that fix us when we’re damaged, and it’s important to have a good relationship with your healthcare provider.

They need to know all about you and your life to help you take the best possible care of yourself, and it’s reassuring to be able to learn a bit more about them in return.

Through writing their own articles, doctors can provide a unique window for us to see our local health practitioners in a way that was never possible before.

We can get new insights into their personality, education, specialties, and experience.

Relatable Experiences

It’s not uncommon at all to have some health issues that have been left untreated — for whatever reason.

It is important though to have them taken care of, preferably sooner rather than later.

Many patients don’t think their issue is worth the effort, or they’re not sure how to explain it to their doctor.

This is another area where a doctor directly sharing their experiences can be a benefit to the community.

When a doctor describes a problem just like yours, it’s suddenly much easier to say “yes! That’s my problem!”

You can go to the doctor and be entirely confident they’ll know exactly what you’re talking about, and how to treat it.

From Them, For You

You have to do your part to help out in the process, though.

The doctors aren’t writing all these great articles for themselves… they’re writing them for you.

It’s up to you now to find your local health magazine, written by your local doctors, and learn for yourself just how great it can be.

At the very least, you’re sure to learn something new, and when you go see the doctor, make sure you congratulate them on their new article!
